Curriculum Development Grants

Curriculum grants can be used to develop curriculum for any type of class taught by faculty at the Seattle Colleges. Face-to-face, online, hybrid, and open educational resource (OER) projects are supported equally, based on the merits of the project. Curriculum grants are for faculty to pursue projects that are above and beyond normal professional obligations.

Full-time and part-time faculty members of the Seattle College District are eligible to apply (AFT Seattle Agreement, Article 13 Section 2). A faculty member is eligible to receive one Individual Grant and one Group Grant per academic year. A faculty member may participate in a Group Grant without affecting eligibility for an Individual Grant.

The following rubric may be useful in preparing your application. This is the rubric the awards committee uses in evaluating your application. At the bottom of the page are two links to successful applications from the past.

A NOTE TO APPLICANTS: As you construct the narrative for your Curriculum Development Grant proposal, keep in mind that the committee members reading your application may not be subject matter experts in your academic, professional, or technical discipline.

Successful proposals educate the reviewers about the problems or gaps in the curriculum that the applicant's proposal is trying to address. They also clearly explain how their proposed curriculum will address the problem or gap. Try to walk committee members through your thinking so they understand your rationale for each step of the process below.
