About
Inside SC is the intranet for faculty and staff of Seattle Colleges. Launched in 2003 this site has provided the various web tools for employees to use to better serve the students and employees of Seattle Colleges, as well as provide information related to doing business as Seattle Colleges.
Listed below are the main web tools utilized on the intranet maintained by the webteam.
Instruction
Web tools related to instruction. Mainly for faculty member and those supervising or supporting them.
- Academic Alert: allows assigned administrators the ability to send students email notice of their academic status ( alert, probation, or suspension ) when cumulative GPA falls below 2.0.
- Advisor Dashboard: allows assigned personnel (mainly advisors ) to view student academic information along with the ability to create an educational plan for a student and track student’s academic progress. Includes ability to exchange messages to student that are also viewable in student portal.
- Automated Course Approval System (ACAS): online process for creating / revising or adopting a new course - for more detail see ACAS section further down
- Class Schedule Tools:
- Instructor Notes – allows instructors to add custom note to class that appears below the class description (and class note if one) in the portal’s class schedule
- Class Notes – allows assigned administrator to add custom note to class for specified quarter that appears below the class description in the portal’s class schedule
- Course Evaluations: allows faculty to order class evaluations (or indicate another method will be used) and review evaluation reports once grades have been posted. Faculty can order the district standard evaluation or create a customized evaluation. Evaluations from the current academic year and the last two academic years are available to review. Unit Admins can also review evaluations that instructors have granted review permission to.
- Online Grant Applications: allows faculty to apply and track status of applications for the various grants offered and assigned administrators to review and process the grants applied for.

- Instructor Briefcase: SBCTC application that allows faculty to view/edit class rosters and submit grades at end of the quarter
- Student Services Email: allows assigned administrators to send broadcast email to pre-determined student groups at their college. Students have the ability to opt-out of receiving these emails.
- Broadcast Email: allows web team to send broadcast email to requested student groups for a college or district-wide Students have the ability to opt-out of receiving these emails.
Employee Resources
Information / web tools for mainly for staff.
- Document Center: collection of depositories for internal files. Documents are maintained by administrators assigned to specific depositories or centers. – i.e. final course proposals generated by ACAS reside here.
- ORCA Tracking: allows assigned administrators to assign and track ORCA cards distributed to employees
- HR information: information / resources about hiring / on-boarding new employees as well as other information for current employees (faculty and staff)
- Online Performance Evaluations: allows employees to complete yearly online evaluation based on their employee type and for assigned HR personnel to track status of evaluations
- Exempt – online evaluation for exempt employees
- EEPD – online evaluation for faculty
- Accessible Technology: information on how Seattle Colleges can meets the requirements WA Policy 188
- Policies and Procedures: current policies and procedures of Seattle Colleges
- Student Parking Pass: allows assigned administrators to manage permit types available for purchase for a quarter, track and fulfill parking permits to students who purchased a permit using the student parking permit site, and view reports on permits sold.

- eLearning Transactions: allows assigned administrators to manage registration transactions from students registering for classes through the eLearning site.
- Online Applications: allows assigned administrators to manage all aspects of the online application site - content, required documents, application periods and associated application steps, downloadable resources, template emails. Review and further processing of submitted applications including ability to send template or ad hoc emails to applicants.
