Moving to a greener tomorrow

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Since 2008, the Seattle Colleges have been tracking greenhouse gas emissions as part of the State Agency Climate Leadership Act. In partnership with the Department of Ecology the Seattle Colleges have set a baseline of greenhouse gas emissions (2005- 3,995 MTCO2e), as well as targets to reduce emissions by 2020, 2035, and 2050. Seattle Colleges has implemented a wide variety of energy efficiency upgrades, green technology improvements, and strategies to reduce employee and student commuting emissions. In 2015, Seattle Colleges met the 2020 GHG emission reduction goal five years early. The goal for Scope 1 & 2 emissions was 3,164 MTCO2e (2015 GHG emissions were 3,026 MTCO2e). Summaries for nearly every year from 2005-2015 are provided below.
