Attire

A cap and gown are required for all graduates participating in the commencement ceremony. Your cap, gown, tassel, and stole may be purchased at your college bookstore.

Cap and Gown Rentals

Each campus offers gown rentals and other resources for those who cannot afford to purchase caps and gowns. Get more information at the locations listed below.

  • Central: A limited number of caps and gowns (tassels have to be purchased from the bookstore) are available for check out from Student Leadership beginning June 1 and must be returned by June 21.
  • North: Equity & Welcome Center
  • South: Student Life
Cap and Gown Donations

Please consider donating your cap and gown to future graduates. Donation bins will be available at T-Mobile Park near exits and elevators and at all college bookstores.

What to Bring with You

Personal storage is unavailable. It’s recommended that you only bring only small necessary items (phone, wallet, keys, tiny purse) to the ceremony.

Timeline

3 p.m. Graduate entrance (right-field gate) opens. Security inspections performed.
Registration, pronunciation station, selfie station, graduate headshots and professional photos, and concessions.
4.30 p.m. Begin lining up for processional.
You will be assembled by college and led through the stadium tunnels.
5 p.m. Processional begins.
5:30 p.m. Ceremony begins.
7:45 p.m. Tassel turn.
7:50 p.m. Recessional begins.
Receive your alumni lapel pin. Lapel pins will not be available until the end of the ceremony. Please plan accordingly.

Ceremony Conduct Agreement

The commencement ceremony is a dignified academic event that recognizes the achievements of graduates and honorees. By participating, you agree to observe the following guidelines:

  • Silence all cell phones and devices.
  • Keep aisles clear.
  • Refrain from blocking anyone’s view of the stage.

Graduates are required to return to their seats after they receive their degree and remain until the recessional. Please plan accordingly.

Seating

  • Seating while waiting in the tunnels for the processional to begin is available for graduates who need it.
  • Seating on the track is available for graduates and companions.
  • Seating for guests is available on the top row of the concourse.
  • A designated quiet/distraction-reduced area for guests is located on the fifth floor.

Ceremony

  • Captions will be displayed on the right-field and third-base scoreboards.
  • ASL interpreters will be displayed on the Mariner Vision Screen.

Parking

  • Accessible parking in T-Mobile Park parking garage is available with a state-issued disability permit.
  • The sky bridge on the fifth floor connects the garage to T-Mobile Park.

Other

  • All restrooms are ADA accessible.
  • If requested, a student with a disability can be accompanied by a companion.
  • Service animals are welcome at T-Mobile Park.

Seattle Central College parking garage will have free parking available for students and employees attending commencement on a first-come, first-served basis. Inform the parking attendant that you are parking for graduation as you pull up to the booth to receive your pass.

  • T-Mobile Park requires everyone to go through security and metal detectors before entering the stadium.
  • Please read the Mariner's Gate & Bag Policy FAQ for a full list of prohibited items.
  • Refreshments will be available for purchase at park concession stands.
  • Gender-neutral restrooms are available.
  • The nursing lounge is located at Section 128 near guest services.

Invitations

You may invite as many guests as you would like. Invitations or tickets are not required for entry to T-Mobile Park. Download a digital invitation to send friends and family. Paper copies will also be available at your campus grad fair.

  • Use the .PNG file if you want to insert the invitation into the body of an email.
  • Use the .PDF file if you want the invitation to be an attachment to an email.

Photos

  • GradImages, a professional photography service, will be at commencement to photograph graduates as they are recognized on stage. GradImages will have a photographer on the concourse from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for professional headshots.
  • Your proofs will be sent via email and mailed to your home address. If you have questions regarding your proofs, contact GradImages Customer Service Department at (800) 261-2576 or email them at giservice@gradimages.net.
  • You may pre-register your email address at https://gradimages.com/Preregistration to ensure an accurate address is on file. By pre-registering, you will receive a coupon for 20% off your order.

All Seattle Colleges faculty are invited to participate in the ceremony either as a member of the procession wearing academic regalia or as a volunteer helping to direct students and guests throughout the day. Regalia is free for faculty and staff participating in the ceremony.
